How do Biofeedback and Mindfulness Therapies Work?

Biofeedback and Mindfulness therapies look at the interaction between the brain, mind, body and behaviour.  Mental, emotional, social, spiritual and behavioural issues cause physical changes which can lead to health problems and visa versa.  You stay stuck in these patterns and are not able to move into health.  How do you do change this?  With training.

Biofeedback is a collaborative process.  It is a method that teaches you how to self-regulate your mind and body.  It is real time training where you are connected to physiological sensors and are able to see how your body is functioning (respiration rate, temperature, heart rate etc).  With training and home practice, you will be able to regulate some of the responses and make new psycho-physiological connections enabling you to decrease negative symptoms and bring about health.  You are retraining your nervous system to be more resilient.
